In Bali, people with disabilities are seen as a bad sign for their families caused of their karma. For these reasons, they are often hidden away by their relatives. Ibu Putu, the founder of the community got polio at a young age and took painting as a means to cope with her life challenge. Then, at one art exhibition, she met another physically challenged painter and was inspired to start a community for people with disabilities.
