Overview

About this journey

Discover a different side of Bali through the living landscapes and traditions of Jatiluwih. This 2-day, 1-night journey combines local community experiences, Balinese art, traditional cuisine, spiritual heritage, and nature exploration. From learning about owl conservation and meeting a local artist to experiencing Melukat, trekking through the iconic Jatiluwih rice terraces, and discovering the Subak irrigation system, travelers will gain a deeper understanding of how Balinese culture and nature are closely connected. The journey concludes with a peaceful waterfall experience and a local meal overlooking the surrounding rice fields.

Why we built it this way

Jatiluwih is on many lists, but almost nobody stays the night. Do that, and you walk the terraces the next morning before the day-trippers arrive. Before that, the journey visits a farmer who protects owls as natural pest control, an artist’s studio, and a water temple where you take part in a melukat rather than watch one.
